Ducati 999S Full Exhaust Arrow Conversion

In this project we installed a De-cat horizontal cylinder exhaust pipe with a set of two carbon Arrow muffler designed to suit a Ducati Hypermotard with a DS1000 engine. The exhaust pipes, vertical & horizontal had to be modified. The rear lighting system including wiring, number plate holder and the EFI system have been heavily upgraded to create this stunning conversion.

Some fabrication had to go into the project. A customised muffler bracket was manufactured to suit the sexy rear end of the 999, the subframe is very narrow and some ingenuity was demanded to fit these two cannons in such a narrow space. The De-cat exhaust pipe and the vertical short exhaust pipe had to be modified to seemly join the new mufflers. All the heavy welding was done by a certified welder, Stuart from 'Tauranga Custom Welding' https://customweld.co.nz/. I cannot recommend Stu enough, he did a profesional job in a very short time.

An anodised aluminium CNC machined unit was the choice to go for the tail tidy. This pice of kit integrates nicely with the colour and design of the trellis frame of this 999. A small modification was done to insert wiring for the lighting in the less intrusive way. The wiring is hardly appreciable from any angle. Rear lighting was upgraded with a smoked rear light lens and LED lighting unit. Overall the set up gives the bike a smart and sutil look of an Italian Superbike.

Finally the ECU was upgraded with a fuel map to match the increase in volumetric efficiency achieved with the installation of the free flow de-cat exhaust pipe and Arrow mufflers. The ignition timing base map was also upgraded to give this Ducati a torque curve improvement. All the programming was based on the Ducati Race File created for a Ducati 1098R.

Juan Brasal

A Motorcycle Engineer with more than twenty years of experience in the trade.

A Spanish individual, who has worked for British Motorcycle Teams as Crew Chef technician at the BSB, Spanish Championship and World Superbikes Championship.

As a researcher and developer, one of his greatest achievements was to design, manufacture & calibrate a Fuel Injection System for a 1989 Honda VFR 400 NC30.

Qualified Motorcycle Engineer from South Wales by UWTSD with Honours Degree in 2016 & Motorcycle Technician from South Thames College in 2012.

Juan keeps studying and updating himself with the newest upcoming technologies on a daily basis. He is currently studying to qualify as an Electrical/ Electronic Engineer.
