Ducati 999S Full Exhaust Arrow Conversion

In this project, we installed a De-cat horizontal cylinder exhaust pipe with a set of two carbon Arrow muffler designed to suit a Ducati Hypermotard with a DS1000 engine. The exhaust pipes, vertical & horizontal had to be modified. The rear lighting system including wiring, number plate holder and the EFI system have been heavily upgraded to create this stunning conversion.

Some fabrication had to go into the project. A customised muffler bracket was manufactured to suit the sexy rear end of the 999, the subframe is very narrow and some ingenuity was demanded to fit these two cannons in such a narrow space. The De-cat exhaust pipe and the vertical short exhaust pipe had to be modified to seemly join the new mufflers. All the heavy welding was done by a certified welder, Stuart from 'Tauranga Custom Welding' https://customweld.co.nz/. I cannot recommend Stu enough, he did a profesional job in a very short time.

An anodised aluminium CNC machined unit was the choice to go for the tail tidy. This pice of kit integrates nicely with the colour and design of the trellis frame of this 999. A small modification was done to insert wiring for the lighting in the less intrusive way. The wiring is hardly appreciable from any angle. Rear lighting was upgraded with a smoked rear light lens and LED lighting unit. Overall the set up gives the bike a smart and sutil look of an Italian Superbike.

Finally the ECU was upgraded with a fuel map to match the increase in volumetric efficiency achieved with the installation of the free flow de-cat exhaust pipe and Arrow mufflers. The ignition timing base map was also upgraded to give this Ducati a torque curve improvement. All the programming was based on the Ducati Race File created for a Ducati 1098R.

Hear from Dave, the owner of this beauty, what he has to say about this work.

We all know that like a beautiful woman, the type of motorcycle that attracts our eye comes down to personal taste or preference if you will.... That said, I've had new pipes and end cans fitted to the 999S along with a new tail tidy and I'm loving the look . I'll be picking the bike up today from Juan and I can't wait to hear her sing. Juan from Brasal Engineering has again exceeded my expectations as he shares my vision and passion of creating a beautiful motorcycle....More to come...

Happy riding.

Juan Brasal.

"Thanks to Juan for a perfect job on my Ducati Hypermotard! After speaking to him about the problems I was having, he knew what to do and kept me informed all the way through the remapping. 1st good ride today and I have to say it’s amazing! A completely different bike. Fully recommend Juan, thanks again!"
"Serviced my XDiavel which was well overdue as there is no Ducati dealer in Tauranga. Did an excellent job. Did extra work that I didn't realise including bleeding rear brake and doing alignment to front forks to remedy shuddering when braking at low speed. Reset service light which typically Ducati dealers could only do. Highly recommended. Knows his stuff. Thanks again."
"I made the call after having issues with my GSXR750. Juan was very accommodating with coming to my house after hours to help me out. We found the problem and he gave me an idea of how to fix it. Sure thing, I did what he said and it's all fixed. Thanks Juan. Appreciate your help."
"Thanks for sorting out my XDiavel the other day Juan. You did a really good job servicing my bike and fitting a new drive belt. The price was really fair, and the service lights were reset. Once the word gets around that you know what you are doing, and you have the software, you'll be needing a bigger shed. See you soon with my new Diavel."
Juan has been doing some work for me on my beloved Diavel. So far, I am very impressed with the quality of the service provided. Remapping of my ECU and sorting out my suspension has transformed the bike and has made me love it more than ever. The bike was delivered back to me in pristine condition, sparkly as! I highly recommend Brasal Engineering.
Top bloke, really knows what he’s doing. Took my 2002 Monster to him that needed a lot doing to it. Boomed me in within a week and two weeks later it was ready and it’s like riding a new bike. Great communication, great prices, wouldn’t take my Ducati anywhere else.
I managed to get out on the bike yesterday, and I have to say it feels so much better! The front end must’ve really needed attention, it’s so much more responsive and stable, the handling has improved a lot. I can also really feel the increase in torque, it’s really fun to ride! I look forward to getting out on a hot day and putting it through it's paces on the twisty roads . Thank you ever so much, I’m really happy with it.”
So, on a recommendation of a friend of a friend, I took my Monster 821 to Juan for a 15k service. I asked him to give it a good going over and to give me recommendations. He pointed out some parts that he would replace - quoted them with options and I took him up on them. When I came to pick up the bike - it looked fantastic, like a new bike. The parts he replaced enhanced it even further. Riding it home was yet another joy! Juan is great to talk with, and turnaround time was awesome. I will be taking my bike back to him!
